OnePlus Reveals Nord CE5, Buds 4 Launch Plan for Next Week

OnePlus is preparing for a multi-device unveiling on July 8, which will include the Nord CE5 smartphone and Buds 4 wireless earbuds. While earlier information centered around the mid-range Nord 5, details on the budget-oriented Nord CE5 and Buds 4 were limited. However, insider information shared by Celina Shi, OnePlus Europe’s Chief Marketing Officer, sheds light on what users can expect.

The upcoming Nord CE5 will be available in two finishes: Black Infinity and Marble Mist. It is powered by the new MediaTek Dimensity 8350 Apex processor. According to OnePlus, this chip improves overall performance by 79 per cent and enhances graphics processing by more than 50 per cent over its predecessor.

The device carries a 5,200mAh battery and supports 80W wired SuperVOOC charging, with a full recharge possible in 52 minutes. It also features bypass charging, a function that routes power directly to the phone while gaming to minimize battery degradation and thermal buildup.

A 50MP primary camera using the Sony LYT-600 sensor is onboard. With Optical Image Stabilization and the ability to record 4K HDR video at 60fps, the Nord CE5 integrates imaging technology from the flagship OnePlus 13 series. The smartphone is also expected to include a range of AI-powered utilities such as voice-to-text, transcription, and photo editing tools.

OnePlus Buds 4 will be released in Zen Green and Storm Grey colors. A new touch-sensitive swipe control complements the traditional tap functions. The earbuds feature enhanced Active Noise Cancellation, now capable of reducing ambient noise by up to 55dB. They also introduce improved speech clarity with a 200% boost in speech filtering and expand the cancellation range to 5,500Hz.

Each earbud includes a dual-driver setup with separate DACs for the 6mm tweeter and 11mm woofer, aimed at reducing internal audio distortion. Battery life is rated at 11 hours for the earbuds alone, extending to 45 hours with the charging case. A rapid charge mode provides 11 hours of playback after just 10 minutes of charging.

The Buds 4 will also include AI-based features, such as live translation when paired with compatible OnePlus devices. Adaptive ANC will adjust its levels based on the user’s surroundings, allowing more ambient sound in high-risk environments like traffic and reverting to full suppression in quieter settings.

While performance specifications are promising, pricing for the Nord CE5 and Buds 4 remains undisclosed. OnePlus has reiterated its goal of delivering premium features at affordable rates, especially for the Nord CE and Buds series.

Final assessments will follow after full hands-on testing. For now, the upcoming July 8 launch event is poised to be a significant moment for OnePlus in the affordable tech segment.
